Care and Mobility

There are two benefits that can be paid if you have difficulties with care and/or mobility.

Which one you claim depends on your age and whether you are already receiving payment of one of these.

If you are over 65 you can claim Attendance Allowance, if you need help with personal care or supervision or watching over to keep you safe.  See the 'Over 65' link on the left.

If you are over 65 but are already receiving some kind of Disability Living Allowance (DLA), any change to your care needs, or any new care needs should not lead to a new claim for Attendance Allowance.  You can ask for your award of Disability Living Allowance to be changed to reflect your new needs.  See the 'Under 65' link on the left for information about asking for your award to be changed.

If you are under 65 you can claim Disability Living Allowance, if you need help with personal care or supervision or watching over to keep you safe, or have difficulties with mobility or walking.  See the 'Under 65' link on the left.
