Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) Sectors Training

Training course in progress

We have a team of trainers dedicated to delivering training to assist organisations in making steps towards the personalised agenda and to maximise quality standards and dignity.

We are committed to providing a large variety of training courses to the private, voluntary and independent sectors free of charge. There are two exceptions, which are Food Hygiene and First Aid due to the external examination fees payable for these courses. Fees may also apply if you or your organisation are outside Derbyshire and in another local authority area.

We charge an administration fee for any participant who withdraws from a course and fails to give two weeks notice of cancellation.

We aim to provide a flexible approach towards training to suit the needs of the establishment where possible.

We work closely with Skills for Care (opens in a new window) to build the skills of the private, voluntary and independent sectors.

We also work to ensure new courses are identified and provided when necessary.

Contact names and telephone numbers are available for individual courses should you want to speak to us about any of the training on offer - simply visit our contact details page.

You can also view course information online to find what elements the individual courses cover in our 'Training we provide' section using the Learning and Development System course search

You can also look at the dates courses are available by viewing our dates of training (opens in a new window) information which gives a search when and where each course is available and the number of places currently available.

If you want to apply for any of the courses either individually or as group then please use one of the application forms available below and either post or email the completed form to the appropriate contact person.

There is a separate website resource, called Skills for Care − East Midlands (opens in a new window) provided through a regional network and organisations including Derbyshire County Council, Derby City Council, Skills for Care Employer Engagement group, Skills for Care Brokerage Project (Derbyshire), Derbyshire Learning and Skills Council, Care Quality Commission, Job Centre Plus, and the Southern Derbyshire NHS Workforce Development Team.

The Care Force self assessment tool (opens in a new window) has been set up to help those care providers who need solutions to problems that are holding them back from making progress. It allows you to track progress against the National Minimum Standards for Care Homes and Domiciliary providers and to save assessments giving you instant access to up to date information

There is also a website provided by the Social Care Information and Learning Services (Scils) (opens in a new window). This site provides information on learning and development solutions for staff throughout social care, health and children and younger people services. Some of their services are available online.
