Children's residential accommodation

Children's residential accommodation in Derbyshire.

We have a number of childrens residential establishments across the county. These units cater primarily for older children who are no longer able to live within their families.

All young people receive a full assessment of their needs by a social worker when all alternatives are explored prior to accommodation at a Unit being made available.

Childrens Homes are inspected by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (opens in a new window) (CSCI).  The Commission's own web site can be accessed by using the link above.

If you would like to view or download a specific inspection report the Commission has a 'Find a Report' (opens in a new window) option on their website.

Educational Achievement

As ‘corporate parents’ we seek to maximise the life chances of the children we look after.  Promotion of good educational achievement is at the heart of this.  By monitoring the number of GCSE’s attained, we can measure year on year, the effectiveness of our investment.

This is also a national Key Performance Indicator – which is used by government to measure the success of our work.  This forms part of our Local Area Agreement.  The following chart shows our current achievement and the targets we have set for the next three years.
