These pages will tell you about the Change for Children programme which will improve outcomes for Children and Young People in Derbyshire.
They are aimed at providing information and resources for staff and volunteers working with children and young people in Derbyshire.
The Children and Young People's Trust brings together all services for children and young people in Derbyshire to focus on improving outcomes for all children and young people.
The trust partners include Derbyshire County Council, health services, Connexions Derbyshire, Derbyshire Police, the voluntary and community sector and The Learning and Skills Council.
Young People have a strong voice in the trust. Two young people nominated by the Derbyshire Youth Forum sit on the Children and Young People's Trust Board.
The Derbyshire Children and Young People's Trust was launched at two conferences in March 2006.
Anne Western, lead elected member for children’s services and Deputy Leader of Derbyshire County Council introduced the new Trust and set out the requirement to improve outcomes for all children and young people in Derbyshire.
Bruce Buckley, Strategic Director for children’s services explained how hard work, patience and discipline will be required in achieving the changes in Derbyshire set out in Every Child Matters.
The formation of a Children's Trust is a requirement of the Children Act 2004.
The legislation was introduced by the Government to prevent a repeat of the tragic death of Victoria Climbie in London.

Recent News - The lives of young people in Derbyshire
Read the summary of the Every Child Matters Survey of Young People in Derbyshire.
In 2009, 3331 young people from years eight and 10 in Derbyshire secondary schools completed the Every Child Matters survey which gives and insight to all aspects of their lives.
The consultation provides essential information for those who plan and manage the delivery services in Derbyshire.
The survey is undertaken by the Schools Health and Education Unit with the help of staff in Derbyshire secondary schools.
The survey was last undertaken in Derbyshire in 2007 and uses questions that are commonly asked in other parts of the country. This allows us to see what is changing for young people in Derbyshire and how their lives compare with young people in other areas.
Schools use the survey to make improvements in how support services and the curriculum is delivered within their school.
The consultation contains valuable information for all who plan and deliver children’s services and so the report is being disseminated widely across the partner agencies of Derbyshire Children and Young People’s Trust.
