Children and Young People's Plan

The Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP) is a single, strategic, overarching plan for all services affecting children and young people.

Derbyshire produced its first Children and Young People's Plan in 2006 − 2009. Progress on this plan has been reviewed and a fresh Plan for 2009- 2012.

The draft plan can be read at the link below. Managers will brief will brief members of staff from partner agencies during May and June 2009 - briefing sheets and instructions for managers can also be viewed below.

The Derbyshire Children and Young People's Plan supports more integrated and effective services in order to improve outcomes for children and young people.

The plan has been developed following extensive and ongoing consultation with:

  • Children and young people themselves.

  • People who provide services to children and young people.

  • Parents and carers.

The plan identifies where children and young people need outcomes to be improved, and how and when these improvements will be achieved.

Derbyshire Children and Young People's Trust partners have agreed the following priorities.

The overarching priority for 2009 − 2012 is to reduce inequalities.

The main priorities we will tackle in 2009 -10 are to:

  • Safeguard vulnerable children

  • Reduce alcohol harm

  • Respond to the economic downturn

At the same time as delivering our main services, we will continue to improve outcomes in the priority areas in our Local Area Agreement (LAA):

  • Improve services for children and young people with disabilities

  • Reduce health inequalities, in particular tackling obesity and reducing teenage pregnancy.

  • Reduce bullying

  • Narrow the gap in attainment and attendance, reduce exclusions and promote achievement for all.

  • Increase positive activites

  • Reduce the number of young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET)
