In March 2006 the council received confirmation of funding from the Housing Corporation for a third new Extra Care Housing scheme. The development will happen in Dronfield North East Derbyshire. This will be the Stonelow Court Extra Care Housing Development.
The estimated total cost of this development is £5,811,963. It benefits from a Social Housing Grant of
£1,929,984 from the Housing Corporation and the donation of the site by Derbyshire County Council (in exchange for Nomination Rights). Funding for Housing Related Support will be provided by the Derbyshire Supporting People. Home Care services will be commissioned by the council.
The anticipated start on site date is April 2007, with a planned completion/opening date in 12 months (estimated to be April 2008).
The scheme will provide
Residential accommodation comprising of:
22 two bedroom flats for rent
10 two bedroom flats for ‘homebuy’ (shared ownership)
Eight two bedroom flats for outright sale
Eight one bed intermediate care units
Main communal facilities including:
The scheme proposals are designed to encourage and support active independence for all residents within a secure, well serviced and high quality built environment which recognises and responds to the issues of increasing age and frailty which is implicit in the provision of extra care housing.
