NHS Nursing Care

All individuals residing in care homes providing nursing care qualify to receive a contribution from the NHS towards the cost of their nursing care.

Everyone who lives in a care home is still liable to contribute towards the cost of their accommodation and personal care needs from any financial resources they may have.

For people who go to live in a care home from 1 April 2009 onwards, the NHS contribution is set at a single rate of £106.30 per week.

However, a person placed prior to 1 October 2007, who was in receipt of the higher band payment will continue to receive higher rate funding of £146.30 per week.

These amounts are reviewed each year, usually at the begining of April.

People with financial resources in excess of £23,000.00 will also be eligible for a determination and receive a contribution from the NHS towards the cost of their care.
