How to get the service

If you don't need any financial assistance to pay the fees of a care home, then you are free to contact the home of your choice and make your own arrangements.

You would still be wise to seek information on all alternative options and to ensure that your resources were sufficient to meet the fees of the care home for the foreseeable future.

If at some point in the future your financial resources are reduced to a point where you become eligible for  assistance, you would need to contact us.

If you are not able to pay the fees of a care home, or believe that you may not be able to pay for as long as you need the service, then you can request assistance from us. We will co-operate with you and in many instances with Primary Care Trust staff, to establish what your needs are and what options are available. You may then be subject to a statutory financial assessment to establish your contribution to the cost of your care.

We have agreed with the local Primary Care Trusts, criteria for admission to care homes. People who meet the criteria will receive financial help when necessary.
