Adult residential accommodation
We provide information, advice and assessment to those seeking care in a residential or nursing setting.
Care Homes providing residential care
A residential care home is a home of any size which provides residential accommodation and personal care.
A ‘sheltered’ or ‘warden assisted’ housing scheme would not be classified as a residential care home, as personal care is not provided for an ‘all in’ charge.
Residential care homes are provided by ourselves and the private and voluntary sector.

Care Homes providing nursing care
A home providing nursing care, provides care needing the constant involvement of, or supervision by a qualified nurse.
The person in charge of a nursing home has to be a registered nurse or doctor. The nursing home has to be staffed 24 hours a day by trained nurses.
Care Home providing specialist facilities
Some homes are registered to provide specialist services to people with learning disabilities, mental ill health or for younger disabled people.
