Inspection of social care establishments and services

All social care establishments and services are subject to inspection. The inspections are carried out by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Social Care Inspections

The CQC website (opens in a new window) provides information on their inspection responsibilities and processes, and there is an option to 'Find a Report' on the site. Some reports can be viewed or downloaded, whilst others need to be ordered from the CQC.

To do this, follow the Care Home or Care Service report (opens in a new window) option. If you are looking for a report on a specific establishment or service e.g:

  • adult residential care homes
  • children's residential care
  • adoption service
  • fostering service
  • home care services

Day Care Services for adults are not, at the present time, subject to an inspection by CQC.

Inspections of the Council

If you would like to view a report on the the council overall, or look at our star rating reports, then follow the Council Inspection Reports (opens in a new window) or Council Star Rating (opens in a new window) options.
