Help when it is most needed.
Many carers tell us their biggest concern is what will happen if they become ill or are unable to support the person they care for in an emergency.
The Emergency Home-based Respite Care scheme has been set up to enable a swift response in these situations.
Any carer who provides over 20 hours of support across at least four days in a week can access the scheme.
When an emergency arises, care services can support the person until the carer is able to resume their role or longer term arrangements can be made.
Recording your details
To make the most of Emergency Home-based Respite Care, it is best to let us know in advance what needs to be done in an emergency.
By completing a form, you can record your details as a carer (download our Carers' leaflet)with us, together with any emergency contacts you would like us to get in touch with in an emergency.
We will also provide you with an emergency card which will let others know you are a carer and who to contact for support.
