Derbyshire Intergenerational Strategy (DIgS) - Helping all ages age well

Derbyshire Intergenerational Strategy (DIgS) logo

The Derbyshire Intergenerational Strategy (DIgS) aims to help people of all ages age well.

Our aims

Intergenerational practice aims to bring people together in purposeful, mutually beneficial activities, which promote greater understanding and respect between generations, and contributes to building more cohesive communities. Intergenerational practice is inclusive, building on the positive resources that the young and old have to offer each other and those around them. (Centre for Intergenerational Practice, 2006)

Our strategy and annual report

When we took the decision to develop an intergenerational strategy, we decided that it should be dynamic, rooted in the experiences and input of all the generations and capable of developing and growing over time. Eash year an annual report updating progress on intergenerational projects is produced and you can view or down load it from our news page.

Resource Pack

We produced a resource pack to use as a practical tool to support the achievement of the objectives of the strategy. We currently lead the way in intergenerational practice and to date we are the only local authority in England to have a dedicated strategy.

The resource pack can be downloaded from the related documents section.
