What is housing related support (supporting people)?

Supporting People is a government programme that aims to help people live more independently and to maintain their accommodation. It also funds organisations to provide housing related support.

A wide range of vulnerable people receive housing related support funded services, including:

  • people with mental ill health
  • people with learning disabilities
  • homeless people and families
  • young people
  • teenage parents
  • people with drug or alcohol problems
  • people at risk of domestic violence
  • travellers
  • ex-offenders or people at risk of offending.

We work in partnership with the eight district and borough councils:

If you are a provider of services for housing related support (through the Supporting People Programme) separate information is provided for you in the Independent Providers section.
